Matt Rosenfeld is a seasoned guitarist and dedicated music educator with over 42 years of playing experience. He studied at the renowned USC Thornton School of Music Studio Guitar program under the guidance of esteemed instructors Richard Smith, Steve Watson, and Duke Miller. With years of professional performance experience, Matt has thrived as a studio guitarist, live guitarist, songwriter, and band leader.

With a wealth of knowledge and expertise Matt brings over 10,000 hours of teaching experience to his students. His extensive teaching repertoire covers a wide range of genres, including Rock, Alternative, Blues, Jazz, modern interpretations of classical music, as well as music theory, sight-reading, ear training, improvisation, and songwriting.

Matt's primary mission is to cultivate self-sufficiency in his students, nurturing their musical ear and empowering them to learn their favorite songs and solos while providing the knowledge and skill to do so. He not only teaches students how to play songs but also equips them with a unique method to eventually learn songs by ear on their own. While various resources exist for learning songs, Matt's emphasis on ear training and song-learning independence enables students to liberate themselves from solely relying on sheet music or tablature. By mastering this skill, students develop a deeper connection with the music, becoming more accomplished and well-rounded musicians in the process.

Matt currently resides in Atwater Village, Los Angeles, with his wife Amy and their son Bowie. Lessons with Matt are available in person in his home studio or online, providing flexibility and convenience for students. Whether you're located locally or in a different part of the world, Matt is committed to delivering high-quality guitar instruction tailored to your specific needs and goals. He welcomes students of all ages, starting from 6 years old and up.
